Roberto Voerzio Sarmassa di Barolo 2009 - 1.5 Litre Bottle

Roberto Voerzio Sarmassa di Barolo 2009 - 1.5 Litre Bottle

Roberto Voerzio roots himself in the vineyards of Piemonte. Working beside both his father and grandfather, the beauty of La Morrainspired Roberto to pioneer for new pastures. Since age 20, the young man was aware of the prestige that came with his region, as well as the untapped potential unforeseen with La Morra and greater Langhe.

95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2009 Barolo Sarmassa di Barolo (tasted in a magnum) shows delicate embroidery of shaved mineral, dried cherry fruit, ash, tar, licorice, ginger and light teriyaki. End notes of toasted hazelnut are reminiscent of the perfumes that waft over Alba’s Ferrero chocolate factory.

94 Points - Vinous

The 2009 Barolo Sarmassa is all about pure sensuality. Freshly cut roses, sweet cherries, raspberries, mint and subtle spices are woven together in a finely knit fabric of the utmost elegance. Like the Cerequio, a wine it shares so many qualities with, the Sarmassa is quite rich and voluptuous in this vintage, but all the elements are very much in the right place. Elegance and power are rarely this well balanced.

93 Points - James Suckling

Loads of dried fruits such as strawberries and cherries. Full and very silky textured from the ripe tannins. Hints of cocoa and lightly toasted oak too. Wonderful tannins.

91 Points - Wine Spectator

Ripe and rich, with a smooth texture wrapped around the flavors of cherry, plum, vanilla and cedar. Features a dense swath of tannins underneath and finishes with a loamy note.
