Tornatore Pietrarizzo Etna Bianco 2023

Tornatore Pietrarizzo Etna Bianco 2023

This prestigious and "focused" white wine originates from Italy, specifically from the Pietrarizzo vineyard on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Pietrarizzo is one of Tornatore’s most prized "Crus," located at an elevation of approximately 700 meters above sea level, one of the highest plots farmed by the estate. The winery's philosophy for this label is to showcase a more refined and age-worthy expression of the volcano, utilizing older vines and a sophisticated aging process that sets it apart from the entry-level Etna Bianco.

Wine Description

Tornatore Pietrarizzo Etna Bianco presents an intense straw-yellow color with light green reflections. The sensory profile is highly complex and more "focused" than previous years, featuring an aromatic nose of fresh white peach, honeyed lemon, and grapefruit, layered with sophisticated accents of petrol, floral perfume, and smoky flint. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and "sapid," showcasing fantastic tension and a distinct saline minerality. It is characterized by a "crunchy" fruit quality and a creamy profile derived from its unique maturation process: fermented in 50 hl oak barrels and aged on the lees for five months. This blend is primarily 97% Carricante and 3% Catarratto, reaching an ABV of 13% to 13.5%.
