Tantalus Riesling 2023

Tantalus Riesling 2023

Tantalus Vineyards, established in 2004, is situated on the eastern slopes of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. The estate is renowned for its dedication to crafting authentic wines from some of the country's oldest vinifera plantings, particularly focusing on Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Their commitment to sustainable practices and minimal intervention winemaking has solidified their reputation as a top producer in the region.

Wine Description
The 2023 Tantalus Riesling showcases a shimmery lemon color in the glass. Aromas of bergamot flowers, jasmine, chalk, mandarins, and persimmon emerge prominently, with underlying notes of slate and lemon oil adding intrigue. On the palate, it is lush and juicy, displaying wet rock minerality, orange blossom, lemon peel, and early peach components at the mid-palate. This vintage beautifully balances citrus, stone fruits, and subtle tropical nuances. The wine naturally balanced itself with just under 15 g/L of residual sugar, maintaining the lovely tension Tantalus seeks in this wine year after year. With an alcohol content of 12.2%, this Riesling is approachable now and will continue to develop complexity over the next 5 to 7 years.

Food Pairing
This Riesling pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, including spicy Asian cuisine, fresh seafood, and light salads. It also complements soft cheeses and can be enjoyed as an aperitif. These pairings highlight the wine’s depth and character, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
